homelife, a year long initiative, developed from a conversation with Epping Forest Countrycare, about how the urban / rural landscape, typical in Essex, impact on each other. Artists engaged diverse communities from the surrounding areas of Chigwell Row Wood in the Epping Forest District, which culminated in an event at Chigwell Row Wood, 2007.
Chigwell Row Wood Local Nature Reserve
For centuries, wood was part of Hainault Forest and pollard management was the major influence that left a legacy of very special and distinctively shaped trees. In the 1850s management stopped as large areas of Hainault Forest were being cleared for farmland and later housing. The housing estate that directly borders the south and west side of the wood was built on it.
